I'd like to see which services are automatically started on my system, and whether I can add any. How do I do that?
By using ntsysv, you can both see which services are automatically started, and add to the list -- although you're probably better off leaving the default values, unless you know what you're doing.
To start the utility, type ntsysv at the shell prompt. You should be root when you use the utility, however, because you're making modifications to your system.
Among the services you'll find are sendmail, the powerful e-mail utility, httpd, the Apache World Wide Web server, nfsfs, which mounts and unmounts NFS file systems.
If you have questions about the services, you can press the F1 key to obtain information about the service.
